Helping People Lose Weight Via Traditional & Surgery Alternatives
WLS Support is ALL for the latest Facebook craze where women are putting the colour of their bra into their FB status on a daily basis to help raise the awareness of Breast Cancer. After all, 80% of people in the Weight Loss Surgery community are women! Just becasue it doesn’t directly impact their Weight Loss Surgery journey, doesn’t mean it isn’t critical to women’s health – skinny or over weight. Breast Cancer is a terrible disease that needs to be beaten ASAP! As we’ve said before, we’re not just about WLS. If it impacts the care and health of our member’s, then we’re happy to publish it.
Besides, this latest FB phenomenon is fun or it should be. As I was doing a bit of research for this article, I was amazed at the “anti” backlash. People are claiming everything from “it’s not respectful” to “everyone is already aware of Breast Cancer and that writing your bra colour is just another way of flirting at the expense of people suffering a terrible disease”.
So here’s how it all started. Last week, women on Facebook started to receive emails from their friends that said; “List the colour of your bra in your FB status, just the colour, nothing more. Then send this message to your girlfriends’ in-boxes, too … no men. The point is to see how far we can spread breast cancer awareness … and make the men wonder what’s up
” Some of the letters mention breast-cancer awareness, but some talk only about playing a joke on the men of Facebook.
I for one (with tongue firmly in cheek) think that women and for that matter, everyone should lighten up, have fun and enjoy this. Besides, my latest marketing journal says us writers should write about things with humour and if we do, people come back and read more of your website, which I’m certainly in support of.
I think bra’s and support go together. (groaner!). As a guy, I’ve always been a big fan of “inquiring minds” want to know what colour is under that top? Now we know – well only if you put it in your Facebook status OR … you could put it here too in your comments or on our forum. We’re perfectly fine with colour status here on WLS Support. After all, it’s for Breast Cancer awareness!
Did you know that bra colours have significance? All these years, I thought women used bra colours to match their outfits. How wrong can a guy be! Here’s a short list of the meaning behind some bra colours:
White – The bra colour meaning of white is innocence and purity.
Black – Black absorbs light. Commercially, black is a timeless fashion colour. It is associated with slenderness. People think black makes their bodies look thinner. It is also a colour of authority, power, and for the more dramatic black- creativity. Men find it sexy.
Pink – means innocent romance. This colour relaxes, draws energy, and makes you more approachable.
Red – Red is an emotionally intense colour with an energizing force. It evokes feelings of passion, love, and sexuality.
Purple – This colour is hard to find it nature. It can appear artificial. It draws attention yet the lighter shades bring a feminine and romantic appeal. Royalty, luxury, sophistication and elegance.
Blue – Blue is found in the sky, the ocean, flowers, and in many eye colours. People absolutely love blue. Blue stimulates a chemical reaction for peace, tranquillity, and loyalty. In a bra, it evokes peace yet royal blue evokes a bit of boldness. You do not hide it a blue bra with clothing.
Nude – Nude means being without clothes. It also means the colour of skin. It has many names including skin, tan, toffee, light brown, etc… Nude is an earthy colour that is abundant in nature and is a part of who we are. It symbolizes reliability and structure. It is perfect for office settings. Women who wear this bra want to fit in. It is a conventional colour that is meant to blend in and not be seen. It is one of the top 3 bra colours. For a little more excitement, you might try the colour chocolate. It is earthy and a dessert at the same time.
So there you have it. Everything you need to know about bra colours and yes, even though it’s for a great cause and all in a bit of fun, this guy does feel weird writing about bras. On the other hand if it gets just one person to donate or think more about Breast Cancer, then I’m with Susan G. Komen for “The Cure” spokesman who said, “It’s fun. It gets people talking, and hopefully, it will lead folks to really getting a greater awareness of something that’s going to affect one in eight women.”
