I have clients beginning their pre-op diet plan very soon.  Our clinic is using Medifast shakes & bars.  I am wondering if anyone has flavor preferences or dislikes. Since I have not personally had the product, I would love to hear what others have experienced!!

Very excited in starting our Lap Band Program soon!!

And I spelled "Operative" wrong in the post title…… can edit the post but not the title!!

Hi Rhonda:

Yes, the only way to fix a spelling mistake in the "title" is to delete the post and start over :(

Checked the nutritional facts on the shakes and the bars. The shakes are great re both low sugar and fat content …bars not so much (11 grams of sugar). Should be great for Lap Band patients though.

I like all the vitamins and minerals included in the product. It would be great if there was a bit more protein (only 11 grams). Have you considered adding a protein powder to supplement your diet plan for you patients?

May not be a big deal if they're only with you for a short period, but if you're recommending Medifast over a longer period, I'd really look close at supplementing with additional protein.

All my above comments are related to Lap Band patients. For RnY or gastric Sleeve, I wouldn't recommend Medifast, although it certainly would be a much better alternative than Ensure or other products like Ensure.

We are using this only for the 2 weeksd prior to the surgery.  My boss has another clinic doing lap bands and they are using the Medifast as well.

Thanks
