Hello

I had my Band put on 11 days ago.  I am not having any negative issues so far.  I just was wondering if there is anybody out there that has been through this recently and can tell me some of the things I have to look forward to.  I am getting my first fill on March 23rd.

Thanks and I would appreciate anybodys thoughts or opinions.

Congratulations!

I'm not sure how much you've been reading on the site, but one of the things you can expect is that your hair might fall out. I cannot stress enough how important it is to take a multivitamin/mineral. When I went and looked for a good one, I got the one a pharmacist recommended. The first one was fine, but the next day it seemed to get stuck. It was a giant horsepill, and I was in terrible pain. I found out it was likely the pill was on the wrong angle to go through the band opening, and it did not digest enough to break it down before passing. I ended up going to a health food store, where I found an excellent multivitamin that is not pressed powder, but is in capsules. Those dissolve quickly enough to not cause issues with passing. Start on some as soon as you can.

The other thing for me that worked is develop strong self-awareness. Be deliberate about each bite…seriously take small bites and chew well because that cramping I was talking about earlier can happen with food, too. Learn to recognize when you are full, and even if you have food on your plate, stop eating. You have the tool now…..use it wisely. I have not weighed myself since before Christmas, but since the end of July, I have gone from size 20 to size 14. It won't be long till I'm in a 12. If you follow a healthy plan, be prepared to lose the weight quickly. Don't start buying clothes till you are desperate for them because before you know it, you will need smaller ones.

All the best to you!

Janice

I am taking a centrum chewable multi vitamin right now.  Is that going to be ok?  Learning to slow down while I eat is taking some practice.  I was a very fast eater before.  I appreciate your advice and comments.

Thanks
