Hi everyone

Is there a limit of water we can drink at one time?  Does water stay in the pouch or pass right through?  Can we stretch the pouch by drinking too much water at once?  I am not drinking and eating at the same time, but i am nervous to drink too much at once???  Also are we allowed coffee at all?

???

Hi these are questions I need the answers to also. I think you sip water all day not drink a glass. I think you can stretch if you drink to much all the time.  Anyone know for sure?

All I know is that I sip all day long.  And on the occasion that I'm not paying attention and take a larger sip than I should it really hurts my pouch.  So I try as hard as I can to sip sip sip.

Hi Kristy and Dre and April,
I sip water or take small mouth fulls.  Gone are the days of gulping water. I drink one medium size cup of coffee a day.  I no longer drink any carbonated drinks…I was addicted to diet Coke (lots of caffeine) but can't give up my one cup of coffee a day.  I really enjoy it.
First thing in the morning if I have a cold drink of water I can feel it pool in my pouch and then move through the band a few seconds later.  Weird sensation!!
I don't know if you can stretch your band with water but if I take too much of any drink or food…it comes back to visit me!! :o

No problemo, I noticed you guy's are 'bandsters' and I'm not so I don't know if it makes any difference or not, but I have been told to not drink 1/2 hour before meals and an hour after.  However, Shari told me the other day that until i'm on solid foods that I don't really need to wait an hour after eating but 1/2 hr would be ok.  So that's what I'm doing now.

Thanks for your input gals,

I guess my real question is, if i can sip ten ounces of water in 1/2 an hour is that o.k. to do????  I would like to get more water in, and i can get a lot down by sipping…………….but i am afraid to fill up my pouch and stretch it:(  Maybe i will call Dr Tangs office.

Hi ,
Sipping is good! It allows the water to go through your band and should not cause any problems to your pouch.  Gulping can overwhelm it and the band can't process it that quickly and you get a clogged drain effect. (pain too!)  You would end up throwing it up before you could damage your pouch. That has been my expereince anyway…do check with Dr. Tang if you are really concerned about it. You are in a great habit of drinking water and that is wonderful! It will be a big help to your weight loss.  As April said no liquids a half hour before your meal and an hour after your meal. Take care Dre and keep the posts coming! :)

Thank you Kristy for the nice compliment. I am really happy with my decision to have lap band surgery and I have worked hard at it. I exercise and eat small amounts of healthy food. I really think exercise is the key!! My weight loss has slowed in the last month and I am feeling a bit freaked about it.  No gaining but not losing as fast. Maybe time for me to re-visit my measuring cups and food scale to keep myself honest. Time to step up the exercising too!
I am so happy there seems to be more and more bandsters! Your surgery date is soon …that is so exciting! Take care and keep posting! :D
