My dad had a massive heart attack before Christmas and after he had two stints (sp?) put in, he came home and made huge changes to his lifestyle. Increased his exercise and changed his diet. He is the kind of person that when he is interested in something, he gets quite involved. His latest little bit of information that he has shared with me is interesting and I thought I would share it with anyone who wants to hear about it. This is a link to a different approach to fighting diabetes and obesity. Happy reading:

This is a really good documentary and interesting diet idea. The principle is the same as the Hunter-Gatherer diet. Basically, if it is processed don`t eat it. It is kind of hard to stick to doing and I don`t think it is possible to do it unless your entire family unit participates. But still, it looks effective. And there is also and emphasis on getting exercise.

Also another great idea when shopping and I have done it for years, with a few exceptions. When in the supermarket only shop around the perimeters of the store so you would only go to meats, dairy, veggies and fruits. Processed foods are not good for you in so many ways, they make me feel like crap so I try and stay away from them as much as possible.

Thanks for the link Cheri. It is true that the western diet which replaced the traditional diet is the primary cause of the epidemic.
