Everybody is different.  Hope that the fiber is not based on breads. I eat 4 – 6 meals a day. 1/2 – 3/4 cup servings. I am still on liquids and soft protein foods.  How much liquids are you getting in? Be careful that you don't get dehydrated.  I would think that if you go every 2nd to 3rd day and don't have problems with constipation then you are probably doing okay.  If you have problems with constipation try Milk of Magnesia.  I called Dr. Amson's office and was told that Dr. A. tells his patients to use Milk of Magnesia.  It is easier on your digestive track than lactulose.  Hope that this helps.

There is no right answer … as Frances says, everyone is different. However, after WLS, it's not uncommon for may people to go 2 to 4 days between bowel movements. Fiber is crucial to help as well as water, water water. Staying hydrated is the most important.

You can only decide for you how uncomfortable constpation becomes. Sometimes WLS patients require laxatives. Be careful thought … you don't want to become reliant on laxatives.

Benefiber requires that you drink lots of water.  I know that it can be tough to get the fluids in.  Hope that you are able to feel better.

I have heard that some people use popcorn or nuts.  I don't know personally how that works but I have seen it on here many years ago. Paige

I had some issues with solid poops, not constipation, so after talking to my nutritionist and other research, I now am happy to say I go comfortably daily :-)

My nutritionist recommends 24 grams fibre daily, Benefibre servings are 3grams per teaspoon.
Other helpful tips:
Coffee gets things moving (if you are allowed it)
Water, water, water – especially if you are adding DRY fibre such as Benefibre, nuts, or seeds.
Nuts- good for you fats, but if they are salted you should be careful how much you eat daily
Chia seeds 7grams per 2 tbls, and they supply 100% of daily Omega 3 – I mix with Greek yogurt & tbls sugar free jam
Probiotic supplement – keeps tummy and guts happy & healthy
I love carrots, peppers and cucumbers with hummus or Presidents Choice Dips – low cal and very tasty snack
If needed occasionally, Dr. Malik said I could take a stool softener with no harm

Good luck!

something else to do which will really help is exercise.  Walk around a bunch and get those muscles moving – you will feel a whole lot better.  And the more you exercise and walk post surgery the better you will feel.  Good luck.
