I knew to expect gas, I've always had problems with that anyways, but
I get strange pains. The other day it was soooooooooooooo bad!!! It's over my right hip
and down in my lower abs. I actually thought it could have been my appendix, until
I was able to push it through. Is over the hip a normal place?

How are nerves are attached and what they tell are brain is a pretty weird thing :). I've heard other people say the same … hip or leg pain associated to bowel or intestinal gas etc. Often for RnY post-ops, it will feel like kidney stones, when in fact it's just slow bowels or constipation.

It's very strange…..it's in my hernia repair area, but a tiny bit lower and hurt before the surgery too. It's like a sharp stabbing feeling

Eek! My first post in the post op section! lol :)
Oh boy can I relate to this post. I have so much bloating and gas from surgery and constipation! It's not fun and it's right by my pelvis area. Even radiates to my lower back.
:( not fun!

First Visit with Dr Amson was June 2006 , Scope performed on January 11th 2011 by Dr Amson, RnY Gastric bypass performed by Dr Amson on Sept 12th 2011.

Just wondering, is GasX an option for post-ops???

OMG……Kerri, I had the same problem with constipation. I haven't gone to the bathroom for almost 5 days until today….I think its all the water I have been forcing down. As time heals, I can consume larger amounts of water so maybe that is moving stuff.
When it comes to gas…walk, walk, walk!

I added a stool softener and it has REALLY helped! No more pain!

we can take a stool softener? Cool……like Colace or something?
