I started a new medication for two days last week, and havent taken any since Friday.  I went back to the doctor on Saturday and the doc I seen (my doc isn't in until tomorrow) told me to try Gaviscon.  Now being postop I read all the labels most antacids have sugar in them so as a postop I cant have them.   I ended up buying Zantac (ranitidine) over the counter, maximum strength.  You can only take two in a 24 hour period.  Ive been taking the maximum as well as upping my pariet to two a day and I dont have any relief.   Of course Im not sleeping much because of the bad heartburn and I havent had heartburn like this in years.

I hadnt eaten in three days, because I was getting diarreha so went back to the diet that I was on right after surgery, diet jello etc.   Tried solid food last night at dinner, only a little bit and massive diarreha again. 

I have 3 incisional abdominal hernias and now Im wondering if they are causing the problem.  Ive been told the wait for surgery could be a year and a half and if this heartburn and not being able to eat is from the hernias Im very worried if this keeps up where I cant eat, have diarreha and heartburn.

Does anyone have suggestions on what to do, or what could be causing this?
