Hey!
I posted this question on facebook, but I thought I'd try here as well:
I thought by now I should be flitting around like the energizer bunny with energy and I'm not. I'm taking all vitamins and getting the exercise and good nutrition in so I feel like something is wrong. Any suggestions??

I heard we would have more energy post op then we have ever had but I am not really experiencing it either. I think I still need to lose a couple more dozen pounds before I am getting that energy boost. At least, I am hoping that is the case. I noticed though that I am definately sleeping less. Where it was quite comfortable sleeping and needing 10-12 hours of sleep a night, I am now feeling quite good on 7-8.

Nice! Lucky. lol go to bed before 11pm and wake up at 7am every morning so you'd think with that regular sleep cycle and everything that I'd be good on 8 hours of sleep…so not the case. I got some advice from some other WLS'ers and one thing I'm doing is taking the wrong kind of iron which isn't that good since I am anemic. Also I'm not getting enough protein in my diet!! I am demanding to see the dietician for protein options. Some of the good protein options out there I don't like so hopefully I can find a happy medium somewhere! lol. It's weird…some days I feel like I could go and go and go, but most days I feel zonked

Gawd……..please share the protein options. One of my online groups say we should be hitting 80-100 grams a day! Holy moly. what kind of iron are we suppose to be taking…..wonder which ones I have as they are the same ones I took pre-op. Iron deficiency would make sense. Can you get your GP to run some blood work to check it out for you?

Iron Fumarate, 600 mg a day. Here's a really good article on our site that covers all the basics:

Nope, ferrous gluconate is not the same as ferrous fumerate. They are both iron, but the fumerate has much better absorption. At least that's what one of the nurses that I had for pre-admission before a previous surgery told me.
