I am very happy to post that I have reached 100lbs lost!
I can't beliieve how amazing I feel! This has been the greatest journey that I have been on this last 5 months. It is still oh so surreal to me but I must say that I am loving it!
I want to say thank you to Dr. Malik for giving me this new tool to succeed on this new journey that I have chosen to take. I will never go back to my old eating habbits and my old way of life which consisted of no exercise and over eating!
I AM A WHOLE NEW PERSON IN A WHOLE NEW WORLD!

Thaks for all the congrats, I really appreciate it and they will also encourage me to continue!
One question for you Suzanne, have you noticed with your rapid weight loss that you have lost a lot of muscle tone?
I am noticing that I am losing a lot of muscle and I am trying to rebuild it back again through strength training, but I am finding that I just love to do so much cardio and this is not helping my muscle toning…..any suggestions on what I should do to regain this lost muscle.
I was also thinking that I know protein helps with building the muscle but I am finding that I just can't get enough protein intake to justify the muscle building. Was sitting here wondering if it would be ok and beneficial to have another protein shake in the mid eveing before bedtime? I do have a shake every morning and I am thinking that this is one of the most beneficial ways of getting a certain volume of my daily protein as I fill it with so much stuff like protein powder, hemp seed, plain yogurt and a nutty smoothie mix I got from the health food store. so if I were to do another one of these in the evening that might also help me to get the extra protein I am lacking…any thoughts?

Hi Lizzette
Unfortunately I have no muscle tone on my stomach, because I had one incisional abdominal hernia after surgery and now have three, plus my bellybutton is herniated so Im awaiting surgery on this.
Hope someone else can answer this question for you.
Again congrats this is excellent

Lisette,
you are on the right track, to avoid losing muscles tone: PROTEIN!!!!
To regain muscle is hard, you will need PROTEIN so another shake is a good idea, and you will need to exercise these muscles…
A person needs 1 gram of P per kilograms, a normal weight is 60 and therefore it means 60 grmas of protein/day.
Heavier we need more, because of the malabsorption we need more, so… at least 60 grams of P per day. More is better!
Good luck and how many grams of P do you have per day?

you know what I really have never counted, I just find I don't have time to count everything, working mom and trying to fit in all my exercise and take care of the family and myself, it is a very BIG job.
I know for sure that I get at least 25 or 30 in my shake, but am thinking that I am going to add 2 scoops of protein powder for each shake that way I will definately be assured 50 grams per shake, is this a good idea or not?

Julie one more question i am wondering if having a protein shake around 9:30 or 10:00 in the evening would this be too late to have something so close to bedtime? I just find that I don't get finished supper until around 6:30 or 7:00 and then I don't have anything for at least 3 hrs later in order to get my 6 small meals in a day

Putting a lot more protein in each shake won't necessarily work as your body can only absorb so much in an hour, but I can`t remember how much ;-( . Having a separate shake later makes more sense; also look at some of the shakes specifically formulated for building muscle.
There must be someone out there that can remember the amount?

Hey Paint 4U ,
I would go for another shake in the evening. It is better than trying to put more protein in the same shake. Momjan is right we should not overload the system!
There is Bullet protein that do exists and it is 45 g of protein that you put in water or juice very easy to dilute.
There is a place where it can be buy, personnally, I really try to eat, I make sure that it is tasty, and I manage with 3 meals+ 2 sancks a day, I found it very hard to do 6 meals/day. So I switched, to 5 and the dietitician was very good with it.

So I don't use shakes, and I eat eggs, fish and chicken (tonight I had mussels :-) ).
What I like is using a high protein cookbook, or an after weight-loss surgery cookbook, the recipes have a low calories count and are rich in protein.
Good luck !
