Hi everyone
Although I am not on the site very often, I wanted to leave a note to update my progress for those of you who know me, and to encourage those who are waiting for surgery to not give up.
I past the one year mark three weeks ago. It certainly was not an easy year for me with all of the surgical complications that I experienced and the challenging recovery.
In spite of the very difficult time that I went through, I am happy with my weight loss. I reached the goal that the surgeon set for me at New Years.
I personally would like to lose another 10 lbs or so and although my weightloss over the last 4 months has been very slow, I see a pound gone every once and a while. I was not able to exercise much until the last few months, just walking as I was able and swimming a little. Now I am finally feeling stronger and I am ready to increase visits to the pool. I hope to get into better condition for the next leg of my journey.
I have gone from a size 26 pant to a 14 which is a little large on me now, and from a 3x top to a medium.
On Monday, I went to see a Plastic Surgeon. I will be booked for a breast reduction in a next few months. My RA and osteo is causing me a lot of pain in my neck and back. Even though I have lost a lot of bra sizes, the Dr says that I am still large enough that it will be covered under MSP.
One of the things that I did not think about is that with large weight loss, the bones, especially the spine and neck, shift a lot. Arthritis can certainly become a lot more painful and, as we can no longer take NASIDS, it is much more difficult to live with, at least for me. Hopefully, with a reduction taking more weight off my neck and shoulders, it will help.
Another thing that I am experiencing is that my eyelids are now drooping, almost covering my eyelashes, and this is interfering with my vision. Obviously I had fat eyelids! So, now that needs to be fixed as well.
After these things are looked after, I would like to finally be able to have a "body lift" and my arms and thighs done. I will have to plan for this as it is self pay.
Apparently, MSP will pay for a panni but I need much more that that done as my abdominal muscles need to be tightened which will help my lower back.
So, although there is still a long way to go, I feel like there is an end in sight.
It is nice to experience the goal change as well.
