Fruit Smoothie

Peel, cut in half, and freeze several bananas in a Zip Lock bag

When you want a smoothie, put in a blender the following -

- Add one cup of apple juice or use water if you don’t want the extra sugar from the juice
- put 2 cups of “frozen” fruit in your blender – I use the President Choice Berry mix (buy the big bags) Frozen blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries can all be used individually or mixed – or what every fruit you enjoy. I’ve even tried melon smoothies.
- 1 frozen banana (2 halfs)
- 1 Teaspoon of vanilla
- Turn blender on “Liquefy” until smoothie is “smooth and creamy”

You may have to add more water if the mixture stops circulating in the blender – (make sure you stop the motor on the blender when adding liquid or stirring the the smoothie mix)

One serving would be 3/4 of a cup – remember, natural fruit is high in sugar, so serving size is VERY important for Post-ops and diabetics.

You can pour the extra into serving sized containers and freeze them. When you want a real treat, just take a portion sized container out of the freezer and let sit for 30 minutes.

Advantages – This smoothie has “0″ FAT
Dis-advantages – Still has lots of sugar (watch your serving size)
