You also need to have your PTH (Parathyroid Hormone) levels checked, every time you have your calcium levels checked. Without checking the PTH you can’t be sure you are getting enough calcium. If you body is not getting enough calicum, your body takes calcium from your bones. The only way to tell if this is happening is to check your PTH levels, because if your body is stealing calcium from your bones, your blood calcium levels can be in the normal range. If your blood calcium levels & your PTH levels are in the normal range you are getting enough calcium. However, if your blood calcium levels are in the normal range, but your PTH levels are high you are not getting enough calcium and your blood calcium levels are only normal because your body is stealing calcium from your bones.
