Tests Required Pre-op:
Overnight oximetry and/or overnight sleep study to check for sleep apnea and other respiritory disorders; gastroscopy aka: “the scope” to check the structure of the stomach and esophagus; endocrinologist appointment to check for hormonal issues; dietician appointment to discuss pre-op and post-op diet; pre-admission testing at the hospital days prior to your surgery (blood test, ecg, xray, meeting with anesthetist).
Other tests and appointments may be added if deemed medically necessary.

Are the same tests required for the various types of weight loss surgery or do some surgeries have more/less tests required pre-op?
In general, yes – although the surgeries are unique in themsleves, almost all the concerns that the surgeon will have require most of the tests to be done. Patients getting WLS are all obese. All these tests are related to surgery prognoses on obese patients
