Under Pressure…19 days post op.

Well it has been 19 days since my RnY and I have lost 18.6lbs and 17 1/2 inches around my body!! there I had to get that out of the way lol. It’s so exciting to me as I’d never be able to lose 18 pounds in a YEAR before…let alone 19 days! lol. But I have to talk about something that has been bothering me since I had the surgery…

I have a very nosy Mother in Law and before the surgery she was always wanting to know how much I weighed. She is obese herself and is in denial about her own health. I never told her the number, and I still won’t for I feel it is none of her business. she has never been on my side about me having this surgery…in fact she once said it was the easy way out…which just goes to show how naiive she is and ignorant. Can you feel the love here?? lol.
Now that I have had the surgery she phones me every week, sometimes twice a week asking me how much weight I have lost.  I know she calls it “caring”…but to me it is just nosy. It also puts unnecessary pressure on me as I want so badly to prove to her that I can do this as she has always told me and thought that I can’t. It makes me want to work harder to prove people like that wrong.

It feels like there are always people waiting for me to fail, but I won’t fail. I just need to finally sit down with her and tell her off. Not rudely as she is my mother in law…but nicely. I think it’s time for us to have that talk!

Gotta play the devil’s advocate here but maybe she secretly wishes she could lose weight as well. She may be jealous and afraid of the changes the weight loss could bring. She knows she has weight issues and despite what she may say, knows the reprecussions on her health. Your success may bring her the courage she needs to take control of her life.

I am hoping she finally does something. She is in very poor health and has always wanted to lose weight, She is not willing to change her diet or exercise and she has a very large hernia that she doesn’t want to do anything about. I’m hoping once she sees that this is working for me she’ll get her own health in check…one can only hope! lol.
